Pricing & Payment Terms

1. How we quote
Project work is quoted at a fixed price against a scope we have both agreed in writing. That means the number does not move because our estimate was wrong — that risk sits with us. Where something is genuinely unknown at quoting time, it is listed as an assumption rather than quietly absorbed, so you can see what would change the price before you commit.
Ongoing work — support, maintenance, SEO, care plans — is a monthly retainer with a defined number of hours, invoiced monthly in advance. Work outside the agreed scope is quoted separately before it starts.
2. Currency and exchange rates
Prices are authored and invoiced in INR. That is the currency of the contract and the figure that governs.
So that visitors elsewhere are not left converting in their head, prices are also displayed in a local currency. Those converted figures are indicative and approximate. They are worked out from a table of exchange rates maintained by hand and reviewed periodically, not from a live feed. A rate that silently changed between the moment you read a page and the moment an invoice was raised would be worse than one that is openly a fixed reference, so we do not pretend otherwise.
If you are shown a converted price, the INR figure is displayed alongside it and is the one we will quote against. The practical effect: a proposal, a purchase order and an invoice will all carry the INR amount, and your bank will apply its own rate on the day it settles. Any difference between the indicative display and the settled amount is a matter of exchange rates and bank charges, not of the price we agreed.
Where a currency is not listed, or where you would prefer a fixed amount in your own currency for budgeting, tell us before the quote is issued and we will either agree a fixed conversion on the proposal or quote in a currency of your choosing. Once agreed in writing, that figure is what is invoiced.
We do not use a geolocation service to work out where you are. The currency shown comes from your browser's own language setting, or from the country that our content delivery network reports for the connection. Either way you can change it yourself using the selector in the footer, and your choice is remembered in a cookie on your own device.
3. Taxes
Quoted prices are exclusive of taxes unless a quote says otherwise. Indian customers are charged GST at the applicable rate. For customers outside India the treatment depends on the nature of the service and our registration, and it may be zero-rated — this will be stated on the invoice itself.
If you are outside India and your business is registered for a local equivalent of GST or VAT, we will include the information you need to account for it. Please tell us before the invoice is raised rather than afterwards, because correcting a tax invoice is a more involved process than issuing it correctly the first time.
4. Payment schedule
Project work is invoiced against milestones, with 40% payable before work begins. The remainder is split across the agreed milestones, with the final balance due on handover. The deposit reserves the time in our schedule; that is what it is for.
Retainers and care plans are invoiced monthly in advance. Third-party costs — domains, hosting, software licences, API usage, advertising spend — are either billed at cost with the provider's receipt, or paid directly by you to the provider. We prefer the second, because it keeps those accounts in your name.
5. Invoicing and payment terms
Invoices are payable within 15 days of the invoice date. Payment details and the currency are stated on the invoice. Please quote the invoice number on any transfer, as it is what allows us to match a payment to a project without asking you to confirm it.
6. Overdue and disputed invoices
If an invoice is unpaid after its due date we will contact you before doing anything else, because a delayed payment is much more often an internal process than a dispute. If it remains unpaid we may pause work on that project until the position is resolved, and we will say so in writing when we do.
If you believe an invoice is wrong, raise it within the payment window rather than after it. We will not suspend work over a genuinely disputed amount while we are discussing it. Once a dispute is raised, the undisputed portion remains payable in the normal way.
7. Changes to scope
Additional work is quoted and agreed before it starts, and appears as a separate item rather than being absorbed into the original number. If a change makes a fixed price unworkable, we will tell you while there is still a decision to make, not in the final invoice.
8. Changes to this page
Prices, rates and terms can change. A change never affects work already quoted or agreed in writing; it applies to new quotes from the date the page is updated. The date at the top of this page is when it last changed.
9. Contact
Questions about a quote, an invoice or a currency figure — email contact@shruj.com or use the contact form. If something on this page is unclear, that is a fault in the page and we would rather fix it than have you guess.
